It's Thanksgiving!

I knitted my way through avoiding conversation at my parents house today. My mom is all good, but the majority, well...Is there such a thing as a family that is TOO close? I think that side of my family is it. Then we went to my sil's, and had a great time. I got to see all my nephews (two of whom look as if they stepped out of an Abercrombie an Fitch ad, but with clothes on), and some other extended family too on my husband's side. My little nephew got a new mini doxie pup, and it is only 10 weeks. What a little cutie! He still had no name, but it's down to a few. I don't remember what they are at present though. My brain is too full. Do NOT buy pumpkin cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory that they sell at Sam's Club. It's the devil! Man that stuff is tasty. It was so rich, my sil and I had to split a piece! I hope to eat some more another time for sure!

There's a new knitting kid in town

Alex is trying his hand at knitting. He at least is trying! You have to remember, he's only 3! He said he's going to knit fast like mommy!

Let the Christmas knitting begin!

So I've got this red merino thing going on. I'm working on a scarf for my mom, but I picked up smaller yardage balls than I thought I had, so I'm waiting on the other 2 balls to arrive to finish up the feather and fan pattern. Yes, I know there's booboo's in it where I put in extra k or p rows. Do I care? Not really. It's my first time doing this pattern, and I'm under a deadline, as well as it's HAND MADE! Doo doo happens, peeps... Here's mom's in Tahki Torino Bulky in color # 225. It is THE softest merino I've ever touched. It doesn't feel skritchy skretchy at all. I will definitely use it again!

Here's one that's the top secret project for my husband. He is a BIG TIME Ohio State fan (GO BUCKS! BEAT MICHIGAN!), so I'm doing this basketweave in secret. He isn't a scarf wearer all the time, but I want to make him ONE nice project in my lifetime, and this one is his. It matches his OSU jacket, and it's 1824 merino wool. The 1824 has a BEAUTIFUL sheen to it. It stands out from across the yarn shop, seriously. It's not too rough, but a but less soft than the Torino. Ah well, I'm the one with the wool sensitivity, not him, and I can manage to get through it without too much of an issue. It's very pretty I think! And a brainless pattern...

Lemme know what you all think! I know, the red is a dominant color for me this year. I have already managed to thrift shop about 4 red sweaters for myself.

Lost time...

Here is what getting a ballwinder for a gift will do to your afternoon when you've inherited your late mother-in-law's stash... THAT my friends is sad. Twenty-six balls. And I gave the dk and sportweight away to a friend who knits doll clothes for charity, or their'd be a LOT more...So at least I se the makings of a baby afghan and maybe a few other projects. Now what the heck to do with the dayglo pink in the upper right hand corner.

It's official, I'm old...

I'm 30 today. THIRTY! Sheesh! Where did the time go? I only started knitting when I was 29, so I still have lots of time left, but many UFO's floating around to be complete. Maybe by the time I'm 40! I've got a feather and fan scarf for my mom started and about 1/3 done. I've got to order up some more yarn however, because I didn't get enough. Oh well, it isn't like I can't lay it down to work on something else while it's on it's way!

To the left is an old old old postcard from my husband's late grandmother's collection from her childhood. It's just sort of symbolic of the nasty weather today. YUCK!
