Can you stand it? My son is starting school tomorrow. He only will go 2 afternoons a week, totalling 5 hours, but what a big step for him! I can't believe it...His teachers are really nice too. I hope he makes lots of new little friends who love Thomas as much as he does...

Have you ever personally moved a yarn shop?
Oh my...That is ALL I can say. My friend Joyce owns a yarn shop, www.yarnshoponline.com and we just moved the ENTIRE thing down 3 doors yesterday. We were all volunteering to help, so I made my husband and 4 year old son help as well. Joyce wasn't planning on moving it all in one day, and planned on packing and unpacking all the yarn I think. Well, when you have two auctioneers who move peoples stuff for a living, all you need is a two wheeled dolly, a furniture dolly, and some Motrin. Did I mention the Motrin? YEAH boy. We tossed the bookcases storing yarn on the two wheeler and hauled them all downt here, as well as the unenclosed stuff onto the flat dolly, and away we went. Alex moved ALL of the toys himself too. He was QUITE proud. He brought 2 wagons to help he and his grown up friends move things too. All in all, it was a great day! Today I went over to help move and straighten yarn wherever it had strayed off. We had QUITE a few orphaned spools run off into the parking lot while moving stuff. It was NUTS! We were chasing them through the parking lot. HILARIOUS!
I also managed to put a boatload (read I hate doing laundry when I tell you a large amount 2 posts in a row) of laundry away, about 5 baskets! Then I cleaned Alex's room, went through toys, and clothes and had to pass out after it all. I think I'm going to go chill now and watch this 13 going on 30 movie on cable. And for tomorrow...GO BUCKS!

zzzzzzzzzzz
I am so stinking tired it's not funny. I started cleaning up the house today about 1030, and we left for dinner about 530. I am so whipped it's a joke. It's not like the house was that filthy or whatever, but we have a small house packed with stuff, and we also have done a ton of laundry in the past few days, so I had all of it to put away as well. Did I mention it's a 2 story with a basement laundry? Yeah, that's a good time. Haul it all down (no laundry chute in our house...why would you want to make it easy on people architects?!), then wait around for it to do it's washing and drying, then haul it all back up. I put away 7 baskets all together. Michael was in a class all day, so it was Alex and I, all on our own. Alex was good ALL day though, and that certainly made it easier...Ok, I am off to pass out. Oh yeah, I did work a bit more on my Noro scarf, and have only about 3 colors left in the famous colorways (all greens), but I'm too tired to work on it any more today. I only got a couple of squares done. I'll finish it tomorrow so I can wear it to Alex's belated birthday party tomorrow evening. Yay!

I haven't updated in about forever. I figure I will. I still have NO clue how to make buttons into actual links. No idea. I wish I did, but I don't, so moving on...I've been knitting up a storm as of late.
Doing a one skein belt of Noro Silk Garden Lite. I cast on 20 stitches on US 9's, did a mitered square (knit 8, k2tog, k2tog, knit 8, next row and all even rows, knit. Every row, you'll knit one less stitch before, and one less stitch after the k2tog x2. Once you get to 4 stitches, k2tog twice, then turn, and k2tog once, so you have one stitch. Then you pick up 10 stitches, making 11 total, then cast on with backwards loop 11 more stitches, until you have 22. Take these 22, k2tog, knit 19, then k2tog again. This will be the end of the set up row, now do the pattern like above. EASY!) , and kept adding on mitered squares. It's turning out pretty cool since it changes colors. Not sure exactly how many pounds of thistle was in this ball, but sure seems like a LOT!
I've also been working on a garter feather and fan baby blanket for a friend of ours. It's in Plymouth Encore bulky, chunky, whatever. It's going pretty quickly, but it's been 90+ degrees every day. It's a bit hot for it, and the baby sure won't need it immediately. Not in steamy KC, MO at least!
I'm also half heartedly working on decreasing a 2nd sock gusset as well. I just am not that into it lately. Who knows why. I owe my mom a pair of socks too, so maybe I need to get THIS one done, and move onto hers. Yeah...right...getting RIGHT on that...
Off to do more mitering. I feel like Bob Vila!

I forgot the irises!
It's the kitty pi high
My aunt asked me to knit a kitty pi for one cat of hers, Becky! Becky is a little special. She'd take a short bus if she were a person. She just ain't right. Of course, with a real name like Steinbeck (not Rebecca), you'd be weird too. Her loved her kitty pi...Her loved it!
Also, she gave me a cat toy that her daughter's girl scout troop whipped up for one of the local no-kill Cat Welfare places. They took stray socks, stuffed them with a mix of fiberfill and catnip. It's like you just stuff some fill, then catnip, and fill, and catnip, til it's full! Then you stitch the end shut. My cats LOVE it...She saved them one since I made her the kitty pi for Becky. They've been laying on it since I brought it in the door a half hour ago. Goofballs.

Ugh...
I'm sick. Alex was sick, and now it's my turn. Woot! Party people in the house, if that party is snoozing ALL day while your child runs rampant and covers the floor in toys...Over and out...zzzzzzzzzzz
This is Alex with Brutus Buckeye at Cheryl's Cookies. He's such a ham., He's holding his hand just out of view!

Alive and knitting...
I've been so MIA for SO long it's not funny...I've been knitting a lot lately, but not as much as usual. I burnt myself out, and I've got a baby blanket deadline. You know how well those sit...NOT well. I hate deadlines. Rather than knit on it, I did a tank in the round in 48 straight hours (omg, never again). I also have messed around with a felted purse for my niece, and some little rinky dink things here and there I'm still working on.
We've been landscaping the heck out of the front lately. Last year we installed pavers and a retaining wall in the late summer, and it was winter before we could do the landscaping end. Dirt doesn't till well, nor do plants in the winter in Ohio, so we waited until a few weeks ago. We also put in an unplanned 35 gallon water garden/pond with a bubble fountain. We added some feeder goldfish, too (at 39 cents a piece, if they die, they die, if they live, well they weren't dinner). I love sitting out there just vegging and knitting. NICE in the spring!
Aside from that, it's been pretty slow here. Maybe I should call my water garden pond Lake Wobegon. Where all the women are strong, all the men are good-looking, and all the children are above average.
Here's my knitting by the pond... And why you shouldn't knit on a sloped driveway.
It's my new sock...In Online Beach.

Whaaaaat? I'm updating?
Well I figured it's been WAY too long since I've paid attention to this neglected thing, so I'll tell you what's up! I ended up frogging my mom's original scarf bc I kept flipping rs and ws on the pattern, so it ended up being an arrowhead lace pattern instead.
Michael's scarf is done, and he likes it, but doesn't wear it, so I may end up stealing it.
What else...Hmmm...Alex's mittens in GGH Cortina are through. Roomy, but done. I am just glad to be done with the stupid things.
I threw some more GGH Cortina on the needles today for some ez stockinette wristlets for the mail lady. She is really good to us, and brings us lots of good stuff in the mail often. I'm just making squares essentially and seaming them up the side with a hole for her thumb. She'll like them I know already.
What else is going on...hmmm...I have 4 houses in contract, and I'm working on a 5th one. I am SO relieved that the slow market is finally letting up a bit. It's been a VERY rough fall.
I am going shopping later on for my swap on Knitters Review pal! Aside from that, that's about it. We went to Barnes and Noble this morning, and Alex played with the trains (not that we haven't got our own train table here at the house for crying out loud). No other kids were there though, so we came on home after an hour.
All righty, enough yap yap yap...I'll post more soon!
